1. Japanese Bridge

The most ancient bridge in Hoi An is the Japanese Bridge built in the 16th century. The exact date and story of this location are not really confirmed, but it is said that the bridge was created by the Japanese to connect the trading area with the Chinese. Today, Japanese bridge has become the symbol of Hoi An town with its unique architecture.

The bridge features the common style of some Asian countries which has a roof covering the bridge. You can also find many one-of-a-kind decorations from the past and two sculptures of a dog and a monkey. Legend told that the bridge was built to seal the monster Mamazu, stopping it from causing Earthquake. Another theory is that this creation was started in the year of the monkey and finished in the year of the dog according to the Lunar Calendar.

2. Phuc Kien Assembly Hall

Phuc Kien (or Fujian) Assembly Hall is another historical destination for tourists to learn about Hoi An. In 1692, Vietnamese people built a pagoda called Kim Son to worship Buddha. After it was damaged in 1759, Phuc Kien people (from Chinese) bought the pagoda and repaired it before renamed to Fujian Assembly hall.
