FULL ITINERARY

Day01

(Saturday): Lao Cai – Can Cau – Bac Ha (L/D)

Upon arrival at Lao Cai Station, our guide and driver will meet and transfer you to a local restaurant for breakfast (optional). After that, head out to Can Cau Market. The journey from Lao Cai to Bao Nhai Bridge is quite smooth on a flat road. Cross the bridge and set off your adventure uphill with stunning views over the valleys. As well as Bac Ha Market, Can Cau is also the famous market in the region which takes place only on Sundays with all the regional products on display.

After the visit of the market for the entire morning, head to Bac Ha town for lunch. In the afternoon, stroll around Ban Pho village inhabited by Nung and Flower Hmong. Make a stop at a local house and savor a cup of corn wine – a famous specialty of the village. In the late afternoon, head back to your hotel.

Approx: 3-hour driving/ 1.5 hours walking.

Day02

(Sunday): Bac Ha – Trung Do – boat trip on Chay river – Lao Cai (B/L)

After breakfast, pay a visit on foot to the old castle of the former Hmong King before heading to Bac Ha market. This is the most famous and also the largest market in the region taking place every Sunday. In the market, you can find many different minorities around the area gather together to exchange their local goods. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, drive towards Lao Cai. En –route, make a stop for a short walk to Trung Do village of Tay minority. The villages of Tay people are located at the foot of a mountain or along a stream with the namesake of a mountain, a field or a river. Most of the houses in the villages are on stilt. Pay a visit to a traditional Tay house for a short rest with a cup of tea followed by a cruise along the Chay River. Take in the charming scenery on the riversides. Upon arrival at Bao Nhai Bridge, disembark the boat and meet your vehicle for a transfer back to Lao Cai. End of tour.
